Interior Decorator Newbie.

I’ve had a passion for interior decorating for as long as I can remember. To me, interior decorating was always that thing I loved to do for myself, friends, and family but never the thing I thought I could do as a career…until recently.

Project 1. Small Water Front Cottage: In interior decorating there’s always a problem to solve. In this situation the problem was space. My client rents this home in the most fabulous location but the space in the house is so limited that her dining room, living room, and office shared a 11’x 13′ room.

When I started the project the room was dark, there was no flow, and it was unorganized.

After our initial meeting we determined the space needed light, personality, and a purpose. Her design taste was eclectic, shabby chic with “country cottage” and “industrial” influences. These styles are complete opposites but I was able to find elements that worked together to bring a cohesive look to the entire room.
